Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) is pleased and proud to be the guest charity on January 22, 2011, 7PM at the Worcester Sharks home game against Bridgeport. A portion of the proceeds from tickets purchased at WARL will be donated by the Sharks to WARL in support of the programs and services provided to Worcester County’s homeless pets. Tickets may be purchased at the shelter now for $20 per person.
What could be better than watching our home team battle it out on the ice AND supporting homeless pets in our community,” said Allie Simone, Executive Director, WARL. “We are so grateful to the Sharks for inviting us to be the featured charitable group at the January 22nd game against their rival. We are inviting all hockey fans and our Worcester County neighbors, families, and friends to buy a ticket and join us rink side for what will surely be an exciting game.  Like all animals, we just love our Sharks, and can’t wait to see them win one for the homeless pets that night.
Hockey fans are invited to support WARL at the January 22nd Worcester Sharks game vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, which is a special night at the DCU Center — Ice Cats Night. This tribute to the Worcester Ice Cats will feature the Sharks wearing a special Ice Cats jersey and a welcome back for the Ice Cats mascot, Scratch just for the special event.  The first 3,000 fans will receive a Scratch bobblehead doll, as the Sharks will also welcome back several former Ice Cats players and induct the first class of the Worcester Hockey Hall Of Fame during the intermissions.

Go to the game and support WARL by purchasing your tickets for $20 per person AT THE SHELTER, located at 139 Holden Street in Worcester (near Indian Lake, the Greendale YMCA, Bancroft School, and the Unitarian Church). Regular business hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM, and Sunday 12 noon to 4PM. A percentage of ticket sales will go directly to support WARL’s homeless pets. About Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL)

Founded in 1912 by a group of women determined to save overworked and abused farm horses, WARL continues this legacy of love for animals. As a no-kill, private, non-profit organization that does not receive any county, state, or federal funding, WARL relies heavily on the generosity of donors and volunteers. The facility annually assists over 2500 cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies in the 17 communities surrounding Worcester MA. Programs and services include lost and found, boarding, adoptions, low-cost spay/neuter & vaccine clinics, end-of-life/euthanasia, educational programs, foster and volunteer opportunities. Now the largest animal shelter in Central Massachusetts, WARL is a limited intake shelter, accepting pets only when enough kennel space is available; it does not believe in time or space limits for adoptable pets, and uses every resource available to place each one. Today, WARL is led by Executive Director Allie Simone and a staff of 18. Located at 139 Holden Street in Worcester, WARL is open Mon-Sat from 8:30AM to 4:30PM, and Sun from 12 noon to 4PM.
