Don’t miss Andrew “Jr. Boy “Jones at Gilreins Friday, Dec. 3

Andrew “Jr. Boy “Jones (Dallas, TX) Capturing the fire of Texas living legend bluesman, Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones, is his first live CD – Jr. Boy Live.  This is as real as it gets.  Born October 16, 1948 in Dallas, Texas, Andrew began his professional career at 16 playing with Freddie King’s backing band, The Thunderbirds.  Jones cites an eclectic array of influences: Freddie King, Cornell Dupree and Larry Carlton. For many years, he’s backed various Dallas-area vocalists on guitar, but in the mid-1990s, came into his own as a vocalist with an album for JSP Records – I Need Time –  which showcases his crafty songwriting, great guitar playing, and powerful singing. In ’89 Andrew and Charlie Musselwhite were recording on Sonny Rhodes album, and subsequently recorded three albums together – Ace of Harps, Signature, and In My Time. The band received a W.C. Handy Best Band Award 1995, and was nominated again in 2001. Rounder Records released Jones’ second CD – Watch What You Say – and his third CD – Mr. Domestic – was released on his own label GalexC Records. In 2009, Andrew signed with Electro-Fi Records and released his fifth CD – Gettin’ Real. Critics agree: Andrew Jones is a living legend in his own time. The cover charge is $10.
