Outdoor Fundraiser Benefits Worcester County’s Homeless Pets

(Worcester MA) – The Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL) is pleased to present the first annual Arts for Animals show and sale, Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 12 noon to 5PM (rain date is Saturday, July 24th) at WARL, 139 Holden Street in Worcester, MA. The event is open to fine artists and crafters, with a $35 application fee. Deadline for application is June 17th, and all fees directly support the vital programs and services at WARL.

We are very excited to launch our first Arts for Animals summertime show and sale,” stated Allie Simone, Acting Director, Worcester Animal Rescue League. “With the wealth of creative talent in our community, and the many art lovers who look for great opportunities to collect unique objects, we expect a great response from the exhibitors and visitors alike. Our large dog walking lawn is the perfect place to host the show, and on a beautiful Saturday in mid-July, we’re sure to see many old and new friends turn out in support of our homeless pets.”

The application fee is $35.00 per 10 foot by 10 foot booth. Exhibitors may show photography, painting, paper craft, handmade toiletries, jewelry, home décor, ceramics, textiles, and more. A maximum of two artists per booth is permitted, and all must supply their own tables and chairs. Artist exhibition guidelines and applications are available online at www.worcester-arl.org, and are due by June 17, 2010. Additionally, the day’s program includes a raffle, refreshments, information about WARL’s available animals, and more. Artists may contact Cheryl Krylowicz, Arts for the Animals Coordinator, at CherylWARL@gmail.com, or call 508.853.0030.

Additionally, artists, business owners, and others may support WARL’s efforts on behalf of the animals with a raffle donation. A raffle prize in the form of a gift certificate or merchandise will be used to raise additional funds to benefit WARL’s programs and services. All donations are tax deductible.

One hundred percent of the exhibitor’s fees will assist the well being and health of our shelter animals,” says Cheryl Krylowicz, Arts for the Animals Coordinator.  “WARL cares for over 2600 animals annually. As a 501(c)3 private, non-profit organization, WARL does not receive any funding from the city, county or state, and relies 100% percent on community donations.”

About Worcester Animal Rescue League (WARL)

Founded in 1912 by a group of women determined to save overworked and abused farm horses, WARL continues this legacy of love for animals. As a no-kill, private, non-profit organization that does not receive any county, state, or federal funding, WARL relies heavily on the generosity of donors and volunteers. The facility annually assists over 2500 cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies in the 17 communities surrounding Worcester MA. Programs and services include lost and found, boarding, adoptions, low-cost spay/neuter & vaccine clinics, end-of-life/euthanasia, educational programs, foster and volunteer opportunities. Now the largest animal shelter in Central Massachusetts, WARL is a limited intake shelter, accepting pets only when enough kennel space is available; it does not believe in time or space limits for adoptable pets, and uses every resource available to place each one. Today, WARL is led by Acting Director Allie Simone and a staff of 18. Located at 139 Holden Street in Worcester, WARL is open Mon-Sat from 8:30AM to 4:30PM, and Sun from 12 noon to 4PM.
