Turtle Boy Schedule

It may have snuck up on you this year, but get ready for the fourth annual Turtle Boy Music Awards this Thursday, September 24!

With thousands of votes in almost forty categories this year, our barometer of the local music scene hit all time highs in 2009.

The key that separates our awards from any other is our panel of judges. Each category hosts a variety of local judges – a panel of experts if you will – who offer up their selections on the best of Worcester’s local music scene.

Our staff then sorts through the nominations and verifies local status, makes sure the bands are active members of the live music community, adjust for category appropriateness and otherwise pour over them like worried mother hens. Once we’re satisfied, we let them loose on the most educated music critics we know – you our readers – to vote upon.

Now that our winners have been announced, its time for the party to celebrate!

Worcester Mag’s Turtle Boy Music Award Festival is held at twelve separate venues throughout Worcester’s Canal District (see schedule above). On this night, almost 30 of the winning bands will converge upon this city in a unified show of Greater Worcester’s musical force.  Where else can you see all of the area’s top bands in a few block radius? The answer (as if you needed it) is no where!

Bands featured include Hey Now Morris Fader, Miars, Sift, Guns of Navarone, Mass Elite, Weight of Gravity, Dental Plan, New Pilot, Castine, Ed Melikian, Flock of Assholes, Jubilee Gardens, Holmes, Dan Burke, Delta Generators, Glenn Stewart, Gilmour’s Breakfast, Baige O’Bannon, The Pandas, Dave Rivers Group, Jason James, Fallen Shall Rise, Black Pyramid, Jediah, DJ Matty, MSB, Jesse Fontaine Trio, Grand Evolution, Bee’s Knees, BYOBlues, Panache and Siddharthveda.

See you Thursday night!
