The Q Presents: The First Annual Banquet and Performance

Saturday, February 20 from 6-10p.m. at Quinsigamond Village Community Center, 16 Greenwood St., Worcester

The Q Arts Corporation is a newly formed non-profit organization born from The Q Café 362 Chandler St. Worcester, Ma. The Q Café opened in 2007, dedicated to the local art and music scene. In the summer of 2009 Emilie Poulin, owner of the Q café, made a decision to turn the cafe in to a non-profit organization to encourage the growth of art, music, and poetry in this community.
The goal for The Q Arts Corp. is to grow into a community center for the Arts. Currently we are operating out of the small café that at one time was more than enough space for us, but with our new aspirations we need to expand to a larger location. To do this we have cultivated a relationship with the Quinsigamond Village Community Center in order to hold fundraisers at their venue.

Our first annual fundraiser is a Community Banquet and Performance on February 20, 2010 at The QVCC, to raise money towards our expansion.

This night will be a showcase the ideas of the Q Arts Corporation, a poetry reading by the Dirty Gerund (Run by Alex Charlembedes and Nick Davis), musical acts by Bolero! & The Ticklebomb Orchestra, a gallery displaying work from local artists, a four course meal, and much more.

This evening will give people an opportunity to see what The Q is about and where we are going. It will also give everyone the opportunity to be an active part of this exciting venture.

Seth Leary’s One Man Show, Monday, November 30 at The Q

Seth Leary’s One Man Show, Monday, November 30, 7:30pm – 8:30pm

The Little “a” Poetry Series is proud to present thespian, playwright, Shakespeare aficionado and comic Seth Leary to the stage to perform his one-man-show. Performing over different names over the years (those of you who saw him perform at Java Hut open mics might remember him as “Loopy”, and as one half of the political comedy duo The Prose Brothers he was known as Leon one-word-like-Geraldo…) Mr. Leary can be credited with writing and directing the play “The Balance”, he has a forthcoming musical, and is given props for performing soliloquys from Hamlet and Henry V at musician’s open mics.

Little “a” Poetry Series welcomes Ryk McIntyre May 24, 7:30 p.m.

The Little “a” Poetry Series welcomes Ryk McIntyre! Ryk has been a presence on the Boston Poetry scene since the late 1980′s. He is a Co-host at The Cantab Poetry Reading in Cambridge, MA and GotPoetry Live! in Providence, RI. He has toured nationally and in Canada, opening for acts as varied as Leon Redbone Andrei Codrescu and Jim Carroll, and read at venues such as Boston’s ICA, New York’s New School and Lollapalooza 1994. He was featured at the very first “Legends Of Slam” showcase reading at NPS2006. He won the 2004 Cambridge Poetry Award For Humor (Male). He has been published in Short-Fuse-An Anthology Of New Fusion Poets, 100 Poets Against The New World Order, Nth Magazine and The Worcester Review. He is also a regular columnist and contributor for gotpoetry.com. Recently, he has been complimented by the likes of Harlan Ellison and David Amram.
